How to make home made sugar wax

HOME MADE SUGAR WAX

There’s an alternative way to save money and wax whatever body part you desire (underarms, legs, bikini line) - Home made Sugar Wax!

I have used both body sugaring and waxing hair removal, and I can say that using sugar wax has more benefits than the “commercial” wax:
• Sugar wax is less painful compared to the Commercial wax
• Sugar wax is cheaper and affordable. In fact, ingredients can be found in your kitchen.
• Sugar wax is made from natural ingredients unlike the commercial that use artificial ingredients such as chemicals, preservatives, fragrances which makes you prone to development of allergies.
• Sugar waxing leaves less mess and can be easily cleaned afterwards.

*What you will need:

- 2 cups sugar(preferably White) -scissors
- ¼ cup lemon or calamansi juice -cotton sheet(old shirt)
- ¼ cup h2o -spatula/spoon
- Pot -baby powder
- Ice/ washcloth

*Steps:

1. Combine all the ingredients- 2 cups of sugar, ¼ cup lemon or calamansi juice, ¼ cup water in the pot. Heat up the mixture until the sugar has completely melted.

2. When the mixture is already boiling, lower the fire (as low as possible) to avoid burning. Then using a spoon, get a sample from it then let it cool before testing if it stretches on your fingers (about 2inches). You will know that the wax is ready if the mixture turns golden brown (that’s the reason why we should use white sugar) and it stretches between your fingers.

3. Transfer your sugar wax solution in any container and let the mixture cool before applying it on your skin to prevent burns.

4. While waiting for your mixture to cool, make your cotton strips. To do these, cut the cotton sheet (you can use your old cotton shirt that you’re not using anymore) in a rectangular shape. The size should depend on the area where you’ll apply the wax. If for example, you want to wax your underarm, you can cut about 3-4 inches wide and 4-5 inches long.

5. Make sure that you’re skin is already clean and most importantly, dry. You can apply baby powder on your skin where you’ll wax to protect the skin from the sugar wax and it will also help make your skin dry.

6. Using a spatula, apply the sugar wax to your skin in direction of your hair growth. Then place the cotton trip against the wax. Push down the cotton strip several times to make sure the wax sticks to the hair.

7. Grab the end of the cotton strip and pull it back firmly and quickly.

8. You can repeat steps 6 and 7 if there are still hairs left on the skin.

9. Using a washcloth, remove the residue from your skin. Don’t worry if you observe redness and bumps appearing after sugar waxing. This is normal and these will fade away rapidly. You can apply ice or cool washcloth to the affected area to relieve these.
